Bangladesh has strongly condemned the killing of two Bangladeshi nationals in an Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday, expressing this condemnation and extending condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families.

The two Bangladeshi nationals killed were Shofiqul Islam from Satkhira Sadar Upazila and Md. Nahidul Islam Nahid from Ashashuni Upazila of the same district.

The statement mentioned that the Government of Bangladesh is deeply saddened by the incident and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Concurrently, initiatives have been taken by the government to repatriate the bodies swiftly.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon is working in coordination with local authorities to complete the process of repatriating the bodies. The Embassy is also maintaining regular contact with the family members of the deceased.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further stated that Bangladesh expresses deep concern over the ongoing violence and loss of civilian lives in the region. At the same time, all concerned parties have been urged to exercise maximum restraint and adhere to international humanitarian law.
