Spain are the new kings of the football world. La Roja lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy for the second time, defeating reigning champions Argentina in the final of the 2026 tournament.

In a breathtaking final held at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in the United States, both teams remained goalless during regulation time. However, Spain secured the winning goal in extra time, ultimately triumphing 1-0. This victory allowed Spain to claim the highest trophy in world football once again, after their initial win in 2010.

Throughout the match, Spain dominated ball possession and attacking play. Although Argentina’s defense held strong for a long period, their resistance eventually broke in extra time. Despite a desperate attempt to equalize after conceding, Lionel Messi’s team could not find success.

With this victory, Spain ended a 16-year wait to become World Champions for the second time in their history. Conversely, Argentina’s dream of winning a second consecutive World Cup was shattered, as they finished as runners-up.
