The High Court has dismissed a writ petition seeking an investigation into the 18-month activities of the interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus.

The High Court bench, comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anowar, issued this order on Thursday (May 21).

Earlier, on Sunday (May 17), a writ petition was filed with the High Court demanding an investigation into the 18-month tenure of the interim government. After the hearing on that day, the court had scheduled Thursday for issuing its order.

Senior lawyer M. K. Rahman and writ petitioner lawyer Mohsin Rashid argued on behalf of the writ application in court. Attorney General Md. Ruhul Quddus Kajol was present representing the state.

Following the hearing, lawyer M. K. Rahman told reporters that they had filed the writ seeking an investigation into the 18-month activities of the interim government. He claimed that during this period, chaotic situations arose in various sectors, including the economy and health. He stated, “A commission of inquiry needs to be formed under the ‘Commission of Inquiry Act’ so that no elected government can ignore this issue in the future.”

Writ petitioner lawyer Mohsin Rashid said that a fair investigation was sought into everything that transpired during this period. He also mentioned that the government would determine the process of the investigation.

However, after the hearing, the High Court dismissed the writ petition.
